1、Resume

3、套磁
套磁一般都是套自己喜歡得教授,方向和自己得一致。先看看faculty那一欄,把教授做什么大概了解下,然后再給他介紹下你自己,說(shuō)說(shuō)你們感興趣的.方向或者試驗(yàn)是一致的。
套的時(shí)候不要一開(kāi)始就在附件里加ps或者resume,等到有幾封信交流下了后再把resume附上。一開(kāi)始就隔附件教授很可能不看直接就刪了。
注意:因?yàn)樘状乓彩且粋(gè)慢慢學(xué)習(xí)摸索的過(guò)程。開(kāi)始的時(shí)候也是和大家一樣,遇到了很多套磁問(wèn)題,參考了一些套磁模板寫(xiě)的,但實(shí)際上那種信得到網(wǎng)上回復(fù)都不是很好的。教授多是婉拒了。
4、推薦信

2.找對(duì)老師
同學(xué)們?nèi)绻獙?xiě)推薦信,建議找自己熟悉的老師來(lái)寫(xiě)。英國(guó)的老師也會(huì)很注重國(guó)內(nèi)老師申請(qǐng)人的評(píng)價(jià),評(píng)價(jià)越具體越好。一封好的推薦信,不僅能表現(xiàn)學(xué)生優(yōu)點(diǎn),還能表現(xiàn)出學(xué)生的缺點(diǎn),能勾勒出一個(gè)同學(xué)鮮活的個(gè)性。
如果說(shuō)“XX同學(xué)成績(jī)優(yōu)秀”,像這樣的評(píng)價(jià)可以使用在很多人身上,但是一點(diǎn)都不凸顯自己的特征。如果能具體地深入表達(dá),如熱愛(ài)看書(shū)并在某某期刊上發(fā)表論文等,短短的一句話,就留給招生老師一個(gè)鮮活的形象。
3.投其所好
英國(guó)大學(xué)的招生老師主要對(duì)申請(qǐng)者以下幾點(diǎn)感興趣:
你的'興趣愛(ài)好,不要說(shuō)的很多,但說(shuō)具體一點(diǎn)。
你所做過(guò)的志愿服務(wù),事不在小,有心就好。
你所取得的成績(jī),除了校內(nèi)的,最好有些校外的,因?yàn)橛?guó)學(xué)生的課外活動(dòng)非常豐富。
你對(duì)這個(gè)專(zhuān)業(yè)的看法,從老師的角度說(shuō)。
你對(duì)這個(gè)專(zhuān)業(yè)以后就業(yè)方向的看法,從老師的角度說(shuō)。
三、怎么準(zhǔn)備推薦信
1、介紹推薦人和被推薦人
推薦人要陳述自己是誰(shuí),在哪里就職,和被推薦人是什么關(guān)系。
其中最重要的就是要寫(xiě)清楚推薦人和申請(qǐng)人的關(guān)系。如果平時(shí)接觸的不是很多,可以側(cè)重說(shuō)明兩人一起合作的深度。無(wú)論從哪種角度,都要傳達(dá)出推薦人對(duì)于被推薦人很了解,而非一面之緣的信息。
跨專(zhuān)業(yè)的學(xué)生不用擔(dān)心老師不是相關(guān)專(zhuān)業(yè)的,推薦信突出是學(xué)術(shù)能力和學(xué)科興趣。
2、對(duì)被推薦人的綜合評(píng)價(jià)
推薦人可以先用一句或者一段話來(lái)描述申請(qǐng)人,然后再描述申請(qǐng)人的客觀表現(xiàn),比如平時(shí)總是會(huì)在課上舉手問(wèn)問(wèn)題,能找到別人沒(méi)注意到的細(xì)節(jié),或者會(huì)對(duì)同班同學(xué)課上回答的問(wèn)題進(jìn)行積極的反饋和補(bǔ)充等等。等于先下定義,然后再列舉例子來(lái)支撐前面的綜合評(píng)價(jià)。
3、展示優(yōu)秀品質(zhì)和學(xué)術(shù)潛力
除了課堂上的表現(xiàn),推薦人還可以通過(guò)和申請(qǐng)人的共事過(guò)程中的體驗(yàn)來(lái)側(cè)面體現(xiàn)申請(qǐng)人的優(yōu)秀品質(zhì),比如:交上來(lái)的論文總是結(jié)構(gòu)清晰,格式準(zhǔn)確,來(lái)體現(xiàn)做事仔細(xì),對(duì)學(xué)術(shù)認(rèn)真;或者除了規(guī)定的readinglist之外,申請(qǐng)人還經(jīng)常能在課上旁征博引別的學(xué)術(shù)資源,其實(shí)也就說(shuō)明這個(gè)學(xué)生有學(xué)習(xí)主動(dòng)性,而且學(xué)術(shù)廣度比較大。
注意這里不要寫(xiě)推薦人不可能知道的事情,比如經(jīng)常“學(xué)習(xí)到很晚”或者“經(jīng)常課下和同學(xué)發(fā)郵件交流學(xué)習(xí)”等等,否則整封推薦信就會(huì)顯得失真了。

In capacity as Professor of Mathematics at Fudan UniversityI'm writing to recommend Mr. WangGesintosyour PhD program in Computer Science. I have known Mr. Wang since his sophomore year of collegeand have acted as his thesis advisor and mentor. In my experiencehe is a gifted and diligent studentand an admirably hard worker.
Wang is an impressive student because he has been forced to overcome the significant challenge of a serious illness during his freshman year. When I first met Wang in my Discrete Math classhe did not appear to be anything special to me. While his exam scores were goodthey were not as high as I would now expect of him. What I didn't know then was that due to his illnessWang was attempting to take all of the difficult early mathematics courses at one timeincluding Discrete MathematicsAdvanced MathematicsLinear Algebraand Possibilities. While most students found preparing for just one set of these exams difficultWang was overwhelmed by four of them. But in the endhe achieved an impressive score on the final examwhich made me conscious of his unusual determination he demonstrates when confronting difficult challenges.
Mr. Wang and I have often talked about a variety of mathematics and computer science concepts and problems. During these discussionsI always found him to be delightfully intelligent. Not only does he quickly understand the concepts and problems presented to himhe is able to analyze these problems and present solutions. But perhaps most important is that Wang's thinking is intensely rigorous. When looking at any questionhe carefully scrutinizes it and if he finds any uncertain issueshe clears them up immediately. I believe this kind of thought is essential to become an excellent computer programmer.
Serving as his thesis advisorI had a first-hand opportunity to observe the way in which Wang's mind works. In his senor thesisMr. Wang mainly discussed two challenging questions in regards to″ANN″. In our books in Chinaknowledge of ANN and its uses are very rare. Few people in China have studied this topic and consequentlythe materials that are available on ANN are limited.
